Standard Backpacking List
This list applies to those attending upto 2 nights of fair weather (standard conditions) backpacking.
( ) Backpack – that fits and is good repair ( ) Sleeping bag in a garbage bag lined stuff sack. ( ) Sleeping pad ( ) tent — you should split up among tent mates: ( ) poles ( ) stakes ( ) ground cloth
Clothing List, (this includes items being worn) *packed clothing should all be in ziploc bags * ( ) sturdy worn-in hiking boots ( ) spare laces for hiking boots ( ) three pair socks (with liners) ( ) three pair underwear ( ) pants (synthetic works best – light weight and dries quickly if it gets wet) ( ) two shirts – synthetic are best – long sleeve protects against the sun and dehydration ( ) camp shoes or old tennis shoes or water shoes — NO open toed shoes– ( ) bandana — optional. good also for use as pot holder etc. ( ) rains gear – lightweight, for high adventure activites like mountain-hikes rain-pants and rain-jacket are a must, GoreTex etc preferable. ( ) fleece jacket or vest ( ) Sun hat – will be worn ( ) towel (small 1 square foot – no larger)
