canoeing lahn river 04.18

” Everyone must believe in something. I believe I’ll go canoeing.” Henry David Thoreau

The troop went back to the Lahn river to canoeing over 10 miles. 190 meters were in a tunnel under the old city of Weilburg and we went through 4 hand operated locks. Some scouts worked on their canoeing merit badge to include capsizing and rescuing their boats and themselves in the not so warm water…
The silver spoon award was really close this time with some excellent main courses and deserts cooked by all patrols. But the great chicken of the Golden Griffins won!
A campfire and a night in teepees rounded of a great weekend of adventure.
